About Me

Hello, my name is Abel Gonzalez-Garcia and I am a computer vision researcher and enthusiast! I was born and raised in Barcelona, where my love for computer vision was born. I studied Mathematics and Computer Engineering at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and also had the incredible experience of working in the Computer Vision Center research lab during my studies. Following, I moved to the wonderful city of Edinburgh where I completed an MSc in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh. I am a fourth year PhD student in the University of Edinburgh computer vision research group CALVIN, under the supervision of Prof. Vittorio Ferrari. I am currently visiting the CVG group in ETH Zurich, lead by Prof. Marc Pollefeys.

Within the field of computer vision, my main research interest is object detection. I am also interested in scene understanding, use of context for object recognition and localization, and machine learning methods for computer vision. My ultimate goal and passion, due to personal experience, would be researching and developing methods of computer vision to help visually impaired people.
